Hollywood, USA – Director Dongha Oh has captured global attention after his film ZERO swept four awards at the AI International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious stages for AI-powered cinema.

The festival, launched in 2021 as the world’s first dedicated AI film festival, has since grown into what many in the industry call “the Academy Awards for AI films.” This year marked its 16th edition, further cementing its legacy in the global film community.

ZERO Takes Home Four Major Honors

At this year’s festival, ZERO won ▲Best Hybrid AI Film, ▲Best Director, ▲Best Screenwriting, and ▲Best Drama, making it the event’s most-awarded film.

This international recognition follows Dongha’s previous victory at the Global Metaverse AI Film Festival (GMAFF), further solidifying his reputation as a pioneering figure in the AI-driven film industry.

Blurring the Line Between Human and AI

ZERO tells the story of a genius novelist—once tipped as a Nobel Prize contender-who loses his glory to Zero, an AI novelist, and sets out to find its creator, a developer named Vera.

The film features actor Sang-hee Lee, known for his memorable role in Squid Game (Season 1, Glass Factory scene), and blends live-action with AI-generated graphics to deliver a uniquely hybrid cinematic experience.

Critics praised the work as “a deeply emotional narrative that questions the essence of humanity, transcending the mere use of AI as a technical tool.”

Director Oh: “AI Is a Tool That Turns Imagination Into Reality”

In his acceptance speech, Director Oh shared,

“ZERO was based on a short story I wrote as a high school student. AI technology is advancing rapidly, but at the end of the day, what truly matters is the story itself. AI is the ultimate tool that allows creators like me to independently bring our imagination to life.”

He also revealed that he is currently working on multiple ambitious projects, including:

A 20-minute mid-length film in collaboration with top Korean actors,

A 50-episode short-form series, and

A full-length AI feature film.

With confidence, he added, “I am ready to surprise the world once again.”
