Stronger Image Generation and Editing Capabilities
The original Nano Banana gained popularity for producing images so polished that many creators felt they no longer needed Photoshop. The new Nano Banana Pro pushes that capability further. The model now generates text and design elements with greater precision, producing natural calligraphy and seamlessly embedding words into illustrations. It also supports a wide range of languages with improved accuracy.
Users can input up to fourteen images as components for a new creation. The tool maintains visual consistency with the original images while expanding them into entirely new compositions. It can also adjust angles, focus and lighting, and convert daytime photos into nighttime scenes. Image ratio settings and 4K ultra-high resolution output are supported.
Verification for AI-Generated Images
Google has incorporated an AI-origin verification system in response to concerns that increasingly realistic images could contribute to misinformation. Every image generated by Nano Banana Pro contains an invisible SynthID watermark. Users can simply ask the Gemini app whether a given image was created by AI, and the system will identify it. Google plans to expand the verification feature to audio and video in the future.
Available Across Multiple Platforms
General users can access Nano Banana Pro through the Gemini app by selecting the “image generation” option under the inference model. Free users may be redirected to the previous Nano Banana model once they exceed a certain usage limit.
The tool is also available in NotebookLM and the AI Mode of Google Search for paid subscribers in the United States. Developers and advanced users can access it through Workspace, AI Studio, APIs and Flow.
Feature Differences by Subscription Tier
Images created by free users and Pro-tier subscribers include a visible watermark. Only Ultra-tier subscribers can generate images without visible marks.
