Anthropic introduced its top-tier AI model Opus 4.5 on November 24 local time and established a clear lead over competing models in coding and problem-solving benchmarks. The company also cut API prices to one third of previous levels, signaling a direct push into the enterprise AI market and reshaping the industry’s competitive landscape.

Top Performance in Coding and Agent Benchmarks

Anthropic currently offers three model families: Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku.

Opus is designed for complex reasoning and advanced professional tasks. The new Opus 4.5 achieved a leading score of 80.9 percent on a major software engineering benchmark, surpassing rival systems.

OpenAI’s GPT-5.1 Codex Max scored 77.9 percent, while Google’s Gemini 3 Pro reached 76.2 percent.

The model also outperformed competitors in solving problems that were not part of its training data, demonstrating stronger reasoning capabilities and broader adaptability. Notably, Opus 4.5 solved tasks that Sonnet 4.5 from the same company failed to complete just weeks earlier, underscoring the scale of the upgrade.

Deep Price Cuts Signal a Direct Move for Enterprise Customers

Alongside the release, Anthropic reduced API pricing to roughly one third of its previous rate.

The new pricing is set at 5 dollars per one million input tokens and 25 dollars per one million output tokens. A token refers to a small unit of text used by AI models for analysis and generation.

The sharp price reduction is expected to lower barriers for companies using AI in large-scale projects, agents, and coding workflows. The move reflects Anthropic’s strategy to pair technical leadership with cost competitiveness in order to expand its presence in the enterprise AI platform market.

Immediate Availability Across Multiple Cloud Platforms

Opus 4.5 is available not only through the Claude app and API but also on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

By supporting all three major cloud ecosystems from day one, the model is positioned for faster adoption across the global AI development environment.

Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers, Anthropic has focused primarily on API and cloud-based B2B markets rather than direct chatbot competition in the consumer space.
