A new era of K-pop has begun as virtual idol Rapideye(라피드아이), created by leading K-pop producers, officially made its debut.

On September 27, Rapideye released its first digital single, 'Energy'(에너지), a track carrying the message of delivering “infinite energy to everyone feeling drained and exhausted.”

The single features the work of renowned producer Moonshine(문샤인), who has produced hit tracks ranging from Red Velvet’s 'Peek-A-Boo' to aespa’s 'Spicy'.

Choreography was created by WeDemBoyz(위뎀보이즈), the dance crew behind numerous iconic routines, including BLACKPINK Jennie’s 'Like Jennie'.

From talent scouting to song selection, the project brought together top figures in the K-pop industry, including Kangta of H.O.T. and Lee Sung-Soo, CAO of SM Entertainment.

FM Studio, Rapideye’s management company, stated:

“Rapideye has been crafted with the expertise of world-class producers and choreographers. We are confident that both the music and performances will showcase a high level of quality, proving the potential of a new kind of virtual idol.”

Rapideye’s debut immediately attracted attention due to an unconventional stage choice. On its very first day, the group performed at Korea University’s annual festival, Hi Ipselenti—the first time a virtual idol has ever performed at a university festival in South Korea.

The performance quickly became a trending topic online. On Korean community site Theqoo, posts about Rapideye made it to the platform’s “best” section. While many praised the debut single Energy, some commented that the movements of the virtual avatar felt slightly awkward.

Rapideye is scheduled to continue performances starting September 30 at Smart Life Week 2025, held at COEX, Korea’s leading convention center. The event showcases cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence and robotics, to the public—making it a fitting stage for the debut of a next-generation virtual idol.
