SEOUL, South Korea — Global travel platform Trip.com has highlighted immersive and interactive experiences as the latest travel trend, introducing Korea’s ARTE MUSEUM as an exemplary destination in the exhibition category.

On October 2, Trip.com released a press statement introducing leading immersive travel destinations around the world, noting that ARTE MUSEUM has been gaining significant popularity among travelers. Operated by d’strict, this media art exhibition space offers visitors a fully immersive experience through the theme “Eternal Nature,” combining light, sound, and scent to portray elements of nature such as the ocean, forest, flowers, and the universe.

Starting in Jeju, ARTE MUSEUM has expanded to Yeosu, Gangneung, and Busan, presenting large-scale exhibitions in a 4,600 m² space with ceilings over 10 meters high. It has established itself as a year-round tourist attraction that can be enjoyed regardless of weather conditions.

In the culinary category, Trip.com spotlighted “Taste of China” in Shanghai. This 90-minute dining experience presents signature dishes from China’s seven major regions—such as Peking duck, Sichuan mapo tofu, and nourishing hot pot—served as a multi-course menu. The meal is paired with large-scale projections, traditional dance, Shaolin martial arts, and Sichuan face-changing performances, creating a theatrical and immersive experience. A panda chef character narrates the story, transforming an ordinary meal into a memorable journey. Its location near major attractions like The Bund and Yuyuan Garden also makes it a popular stop for travelers to Shanghai.

In the performance category, the spotlight went to Sphere in Las Vegas, USA, which has emerged as a next-generation immersive entertainment venue. As the world’s largest spherical structure, Sphere’s 580,000 sq ft LED exterior has become a new urban icon. Inside, it features a 16K-resolution ultra-large screen and 168,000 speakers, offering an overwhelming audiovisual experience. The addition of 4D effects, including wind, vibration, and scent, elevates films, concerts, and live shows to new levels. Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard from Earth, in particular, has captivated travelers with its planetary exploration theme.

For educational experiences, Trip.com highlighted the Lava Show in Iceland. This unique program melts basalt rock at approximately 1,100 °C and pours actual lava in front of the audience—the only experience of its kind in the world. Available in Vík on Iceland’s southern coast and in Reykjavik, the Lava Show allows visitors to witness the heat, sound, and flow of molten lava up close, offering a special opportunity to learn about volcanic terrain and natural phenomena. It’s popular with both families and geotourists.

Hong Jong-min, head of Trip.com Korea, stated,

“Travelers today are seeking experiences that engage all five senses, going beyond passive sightseeing. As a global one-stop travel platform, Trip.com aims to make it easier and more convenient for travelers to explore the world. By introducing and connecting immersive travel destinations, we will continue to inspire new ways to travel.”
